Sculptra™

Sculptra™ (poly-l-lactic acid) is a synthetic injectable material that provides a gradual and significant increase in skin and soft tissue thickness and is used for for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles in which deep dermal grid pattern (cross-hatch) injection technique is appropriate.

It has been used for over 15 years in 33 countries worldwide. Sculptra is composed of a synthetic substance that is biodegradable and bio-compatible. Sculptra works by providing a framework for your body to produce and lay down collagen, which fills in the desired area. There’s no pre-treatment skin test and unlike surgery, there is little to no downtime. Most people usually return to work or normal activities immediately. Sculptra is long-lasting but not permanent.

About Procedure

The most common adverse events seen in clinical studies of Sculptra include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, itching, nodules or bumps/lumps and other local side effects.   If you have a history of herpes, you may experience a herpes breakout after receiving the filler.

Results can last for more than two years.  Sculptra is a long-lasting cosmetic injectable, the results are not permanent. The collagen production can take up to two months to occur, the increase in natural collagen lasts longer than most other injectable materials.

Sculptra injections are very tolerable. The injections cause very mild, very temporary discomfort, and feel similar to a slight pinching sensation and some pressure.

It is also important to gently massage or apply pressure if any lumps are palpated after the injections.  Try to avoid sleeping on the side or sides that have been treated for first 2-3 days.
