Radiesse

Radiesse is a dermal filler made from Hydroxylapatite as the base component.  It can be used to replenish soft tissue loss as well as smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth).  It is also used for correcting volume loss in the back of the hands as well as gluteal (buttocks)enhancement for those who do not have enough fat for transfer.

The solution in the injection contains Calcium Hydroxylapatite microspheres, stimulates the production of collagen already in your body, helping your body build its own natural filler.

About Procedure

The most common adverse events seen in clinical studies of Radiesse include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, itching, nodules or bumps/lumps and other local side effects.   If you have a history of herpes, you may experience a herpes breakout after receiving the filler.

The active ingredient in Radiesse has been shown to help stimulate collagen production, which allows it to last longer than hyaluronic acid-based fillers. The effects of Radiesse can potentially last 12 to 18 months, while injectables like Restylane or Juvederm typically wear off in 6 to 12 months.

Radiesse injections are very tolerable. The injections cause very mild, very temporary discomfort, and feel similar to a slight pinching sensation and some pressure.

It is also important not to massage or apply pressure over the treated areas for 4 to 6 hours after the injections, and avoid sleeping on the side or sides that have been treated for the next 2-3 days.
