Hair Restoration procedure
for men & women

Hair loss is a typical condition that can affect anyone for various reasons. Hereditary hair loss with age is the most common cause of baldness. Yet, our hair transplantation procedure allows both women and men to reclaim their youth and confidence by restoring their hair growth and preventing future hair loss.

Hair loss can affect the scalp or the entire body, however psychologically it is more problematic or devastating when it occurs on the scalp or the face.

Baldness typically refers to excessive hair loss from the scalp region.  Hereditary hair loss with age is the most common cause of baldness or male pattern baldness or female pattern baldness.  Other causes of hair loss are: hormonal changes, medical disease, medications and supplement, radiation therapy, stressful events, and others.

The ideal candidate is a woman or man who is healthy, non-smoker, in good nutritional state, with healthy hair and no scalp disease. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Restoration therapy is an ideal treatment for men and women who are experiencing thinning hair, reduced hairline, or growing bald patches and have adequate amount of hair in the donor regions.  The type of procedure (FUE vs FUT) will be determined based on the donor site hair density, number of follicles needed for restoration and hair type.

Typically, women are better candidates for FUT (strip method) due to the generalized thinning pattern throughout the scalp unless smaller number of grafts are needed for transplantation to eyebrows or eye lashes.

During the consultation the client’s medical history is reviewed including history of tobacco use along with prescription medications.  Using aspirin and/or other blood thinners can potentially increase the risk of bruising and swelling at the injection sites.

During the transplant procedure, surgeon individual follicular units (FUE) or strip of skin (FUT) is removed from the back of the head (other donor site such as chest, back, beard are used as well).  Hair units are prepared for transplantation by trimming excess fat and skin tissue without damaging the hair root.  The hair units are then transplanted into the recipient site as desired hair pattern and design.

It is likely that you may need more than one surgery to obtain the effect and density you desire.  This is dependent on your age, progression of your future hair loss based on your genetics, and other factors.

F.U.E. procedure involves shaving the back of the scalp (donor site).  Hair follicles units are extracted / removed in single or multiple graft groups.  Once the area heals with small dots, these are covered by existing hair.  The number and type of grafts depends on each individual hair type, quality, color and the size of the area where the hair are transplanted.

F.U.T. procedure involves removal of 4 to 6-inch strip of skin with hair from the back of your head.  The site is sutured closed and it will be hidden by the hair around it.  Meanwhile the skin and hair strip are processed and hair grafts are separated into single grafts and 2, 3, 4 graft units (depending on the availability).  The number and type of grafts depends on each individual hair type, quality, color and the size of the area where the hair are transplanted.

The transplantation process is the same for F.U.E. and F.U.T. procedures.  Once the grafts are prepared and ready, the area where the grafts will go is anesthetized, graft sites are made by making small holes or slits in the skin and each graft is delicately placed in these holes.

Typically, single grafts are utilized to reconstruct or lower the hair line and the 2, 3, 4-unit grafts are used to provide the density and the fullness behind the hair line.

Depending on the size of the transplant you’re getting, the process will take about 4 to 8 hours.

Side effects are rare and they may include swelling, bruising, infection or scar tissue formation.  Around the time new hair starts to grow, some people develop folliculitis or inflammation of the hair follicles due to ingrown hair formation.

Typically, these resolve on their own without any interventions; however, antibiotics, compression can relieve the problem.  It is also possible to suddenly lose some of the original hair in the area where new hair has been transplanted, as called “shock loss”.  In most cases this is a temporary effect and is not permanent.

Frequently Asked Questions!

Depending on the extent of the hair loss and the size of the treated area, clients may experience discomfort from the anesthetic injections.   Once the area is numbed there is no discomfort or pain sensation.  Typically, discomfort last from an hour to a day.

Clients usually see results within three to four months for the new grafts to grow and up to one year for the complete results to show.

Typically, there is a need for a second transplant procedure later on if you continue to lose the existing hair (not the transplanted hair) or if you decide to obtain more thicker hair.  We do recommend to wait for at least a full year before your next procedure.

Initially the clients notice a decrease in hair shedding, followed by early regrowth followed by increased hair length and hair density.  There is a chance for further hair loss (not transplanted hair) depending on your age, genetics, medications (chemotherapy drugs) and other factors.

Things that are beneficial to maintain healthy hair are: good diet, hair specific supplements, not smoking, avoiding harsh hair products, PRP – platelet rich plasma injections, stem cell therapy, cold laser light helmets (Theradome helmets)

Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment

Platelet Rich Plasma commonly know as PRP is the portion of our blood that contains white blood cells and platelets, which are rich in growth factors. These growth factors have shown to increase blood flow, stimulate the hair follicles and promote new hair growth. Injection of these growth factors to the scalp has shown an increase in hair count and hair thickness.
